A packer in New South Wales has a unique way of doing things: he sells hydration packs on the black market.
The man has been selling them on the back of his home, where he has kept a hydration supply.
“I’ve been doing this for two years and I’ve been selling hydration for about three years, and this year I’m doing it for a third year,” he said.
“It’s not a very lucrative business, it’s really expensive.”
It all started in 2014, when a hydrated water bottle broke during a fight with a packer and the man, who did not want to be named, needed help getting it repaired.
The bottle was then taken to a local water supplier and he sold it for $5.50.
“He was kind of a bit lost at the time,” Mr Soto said.
“He didn’t have any money and he wanted to get it repaired and so he bought it on eBay and got the bottle back.”
When he got it back, he thought it was good enough for a sale, so he put it up on eBay.
The next day he came back and he had it sold for $30.
“Mr Soto says he’s also been selling the bottle on eBay for more than $400.
Mr Sota says he sells the hydration on his own because he’s “pretty poor”.”
The prices are really cheap because the bottles are just so cheap,” he told ABC Radio Brisbane.
He sells the bottles online and says people are always interested.
One customer told Mr Sota he’d “just give it away” for free, so Mr Sotos sold the bottle to a woman.”
She said ‘I’ve never bought anything before and I’m happy for you to give it to me for free’,” Mr Soton said.
The woman was so impressed with the bottle that she wanted one.
She now wants one of her own.”
For people who can’t afford a bottle, they can buy the bottle for about $100.
I would like to do the same thing with the hydrated bottle.
“A bottle is just a bottle,” he added.
